CULTURAL PURSUITS - Booking Conditions
 

Prices:

Prices are based on amount given in email or discussed with you, and based on discussion with you. As most of Cultural Pursuits Trips are customized, prices may vary from person to person depending on services rendered and discussed. Price is generally a per day fee (calculated for the number of days of trip at time of deposit, any reduction in day on part of client does not establish an automatic refund) based on all inclusive or customized price as discussed – it does not include airfares (except and when otherwise discussed, passport and visa fees, restricted area fees and charges, travel insurance, excess baggage charges, airport taxes, gratuities to leaders and guides, extra meals, laundry, drinks, medical expenses, optional activities and trips, and any items of a personal nature are not included in the price.

Your Trip and Assumptions of Risk:

Cultural Pursuits operates in regions where standards of accommodation, transport, safety, hygiene, medical facilities and other infrastructure may, at times, not be of the standard that you are used to at home.

But booking with Cultural Pursuits you understand that participation involves inherent risks that may not be present in the case of conventional or less demanding holidays. These risks include, but not limited to, the possibility of injury or death, psychological trauma, disease, loss or damage of property, inconvenience and discomfort. The possibility of experiencing all or some of these risks is likely to be higher if participation in Cultural Pursuits trips involves visiting remote or unstable regions or regions where there is dangerous wildlife.

When deciding to go to an area Cultural Pursuits gets as much information from locals as possible, at anytime that we may consider the risks to great, the trip itinerary or plan may be changed by us for your due safety.

Exclusion of Liability:

Cultural Pursuits will not accept responsibility or liability if you contravene any law or regulation of any region visited. Any independent arrangements made that are not part of the Cultural Pursuits Trip are entirely at you risk.

Force majeure:

Cultural Pursuits will not be liable for any delay in, change to or cancellation of trips due to "force majeure;" means a circumstance beyond the reasonable control of Cultural Pursuits and includes, but is not limited to, war or threat of war, riot, civil strife, terrorist activity, industrial dispute, disease, industrial or nuclear disaster, adverse weather conditions, fire and strikes.

Cancellation:

Cultural Pursuits tries to be accommodating and understanding in cases of cancellation. However if canceled trips are made, we ask that you also be understanding that certain expenses have been made and bookings have been undertaken. Also bookings for other trips may have been declined for yours, as most are customized. Therefore we absolutely insist that once payment is made and trip has started no refunds can be made. We normally take a deposit then full payment on arrival. The deposit cannot be refunded and other payments should be mutually negotiated.

Payment:

A 50 percent deposit on trip is requested before arrival and total of any extra bookings, like air or train should be made in full before booking. Full payment made on arrival.

Travel Insurance:

Adequate and valid travel insurance is each individual’s responsibility.

Passport and Visa:

It is your responsibility that you carry a valid passport and have obtained the appropriate visas when traveling with Cultural Pursuits. Please ensure your passport is valid for 6 months beyond the duration of your holiday.

Restricted Area Permits:

Because many of the areas in North East India a require Restricted area permits, your papers and required documents must be in possession of Cultural Pursuits at least 1 month prior to you Trip date. We do our best under difficult bureaucratic circumstances to obtain the permits for you. Most of the areas allow groups of 4 or more to obtain the permits quite easily through the state government. When there are less than 4 we some time put others on your trip to make obtaining the permit easier and allow you to go the these remote areas – you therefore at these times may require to travel with person unknown to you; In most cases there is a charge for obtaining this permit unless you are on a full all inclusive trip –in all other cases we have to charge as per actual charges. In the case of Arunachal Pradesh a $50. US per person for a 10 day permit + fees, in the case of all other restricted states the charge varies and will include a charge we have to pay to agents to do the bureaucratic paper pushing.

Health and Fitness:

It is your responsibility to understand and take account of your own fitness standards and realize that at time we travel in difficult situations and high elevations.

Publicity :

You agree that Cultural Pursuits may use images of you taken during the trip without recourse to you and without compensation to you, for publicity and promotion purposes only through whatever medium it chooses.

In Conclusion :

When all is said and done Cultural Pursuits and its guides will do there best under difficult circumstances to provide you with an exciting, safe and adventurous trip with respect to each human being. We will not accept socially unacceptable behavior that may not be appropriate for the areas we travel in, remembering that the people we visit are inviting us into their homes and places of livelihood and we must show the due respect for that. We are just visitors, this is their home.
