Meghalaya 15 Day Trip - Garo, Khasi and Jaintia Hills

Day 1 Arrival: Pickup Guwahati - Guwahati to Siju, in Garo Hills - stay in Lower Siju, Picnic Lunch will have been prepared or stop at road side dhaba for something local.  Arrive in late afternoon and stay in guest house in siju.  Garo meal in evening.
Day 2 Siju: Around Siju - many options for the day, hiking to villages near by, Bird Sanctuary, Cave or other activities around village.  Stay Siju. 
Day 3 Siju: Day hike up to Rongsu village and back, lunch in village. Afternoon relax by river and walk around siju village.
Day 4 Balpakhram: Siju to Balpakram National Forest in Morning, stay will be camping and/or forest bungalow.  Afternnoon relax and walk around village.
Day 5 Balpakhram:  Full Day Hike into Balpakhram National Forest.  Picnic Lunch. stay Balpakhram.
Day 6 Balpakhram to Nongstoin: To Nongstoin through Garo hills to West Khasi Hills, go to Nongknum Island - a beautiful island on river.  Camp on Island or Guest house elsewhere.

Day 8 Nongknum to Shillong: Day in Shillong, visit market and Museum and relax for day. Stay Shillong.
Day 9 Shillong to Mawlynnong: Drive to village near Bangladesh border - spend afternoon exploring the area, Living root bridges, village and relaxing. Stay guest house - Mawlynnong.
Day 10: Mawlynnong:  Day hike to village near by villages and waterfalls.  Stay Mawlynnong.
Day 11: Mawlynnong and Surrounding villages:  Drive to border of Bangladesh to villages on border, full day out. come back to Mawlynnong in evening for cultural Show and music. Stay mawlynnong. 
Day 12:  Mawlynnong to Nartiang:  Here is large establishment of Monoliths as well as small Durga Temple - important to Jaintia Culture, picnic lunch out - Stay Thadlaskein.

Drive to Daporijo (160km 8hrs) the headquarter of the Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh located at an altitude of 600m is an inhabitant of Tagin and Gallong tribes. Overnight Daporijo.
Day 5 Daporijo
Full day visit Tagin tribal villages. Overnight Daporijo.
Day 6 Daporijo-Ziro
Ziro (160km 8hrs) the headquarter of Lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh located at an altitude of 1560m, is a plateau surrounded by Apatani tribal villages, Dibbo- Hija-Bulla-Hari and Hong village. Hong village are to be counted as second biggest and most organized tribal villages in Asia. The uniqueness of Apatani tribe is tatooing on women's face and its nose plug. Overnight Ziro.
Day 7 Ziro
Full day at Apatani tribal villages of Bamin-Hija-Dutta Bulla and Hong, Museum, emporium. Overnight Ziro.
Day 8 Ziro-Itanagar
Drive to Itanagar (150km 5hrs) the capital city of Arunachal Pradesh. Itanagar has extremely interesting museum known as Jawaharlal Nehru Museum, time spent here can really acquaint you with the culture and tradition of this region. All prototype of the bamboo and cane architecture of dwelling of different tribes and apparel, design and functional tools and others handicrafts are display here. Overnight Itanagar.
Day 9 Itanagar
Full day visit Nishi Tribal villages. Overnight Itanagar.
Day 10 Itanagar-Tezpur
Drive to Tezpur (216km 6hrs). and go to Eco Camp - evening relax.

10 Day Arunachal Pradesh

Day 1: Arrive Bhalukpong  and check into Assam Tourist Lodge.
Day 2: After breakfast drive to Bomdila (100 km) Entry formalities at Police Check Gate bordering Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. En-route visit the famous Tipi Orchidarium and Shertukpen tribal village at Rupa. O/N in Tourist Lodge.
Day 3: After breakfast drive to Dirang 42 km. Visit Dirang Dzong (former Tibetan Jail), Village Water Mills, Kachikpa Gompa, Li-uing Gompa, Kalchakra Monastary, YAK Research Centre, and local market. Overnight Hotel Pemaling.
Day 4: Drive to Tawang (145 km). En-route visit Paradise lake at Sela
Pass (13700 ft.). Weather permitting one can enjoy the beautiful snow
clad mountain views of Kangto 7090 mtr, Nyegi Kangsang 7050 mtr, Gorichen 6488 mtr, etc.   O/N in Hotel Nefa.
Day 5: Sight seeing of Tawang Monastery (400 yrs old with 500 resident monks and center of Mahayana Buddhism), Tawang Memorial, Birth Place of H H V1 Dalai Lama Urgeling Gompa, Emporium, etc.
09/04 Fri:  Trek to Ani Gompa (Nunnery), interact with the nuns, enjoy picnic lunch and return to Hotel. Evening free for shopping in the local market.
Day 6: Early breakfast and drive to Namshu Vilage (170 km. En-route visit Jang Water fall and Indo China War Memorial at Jaswantgarh. Overnight in village house.
Day 7: Day in around Namshu Village.
Day 8: After breakfast trek to Sangti village. Thereafter drive to Bomdila 50 km. Overnight in Tourist Lodge.
Day 9:  After breakfast  Bomdila sight seeing including Monasteries, Emporium, Museum and local market.  Drive to Eco Camp in Assam. Stay Camp.
Day 10 Early morning walk in Nameri National Park - and/or rafting trip down river.  Afternoon drive to Guwahati and tour ends.

Visit Itanagar (216km 8hrs) the capital city of Arunachal Pradesh. Also visit Jawaharlal Nehru Museum.
Day 08 : Itanagar-Bomdila
Morning drive to Bomdila (350 km, 9hrs drive). Enroute visit Tipi Orchidarium, a glass house with over 7500 Orchids. Overnight Siphiyang Phong Hotel, Bomdila.
Day 09 : Bomdila-Tawang
Morning drive to Tawang (190 Km, 7hrs drive). Tawang, the major center of the Mahayana Buddhists is standing on the spur of a hill over 12000 ft. above the sea level. On the way to Tawang lies the world's second highest pass - the Sela Pass (14000 feet) which runs through a small ridge and along a placid Lake called the Paradise Lake. Overnight Tourist Lodge or Hotel Buddha, Tawang.
Day 10 : Tawang
Full day participate at Lossar festival of Monpas.
Day 11 : Tawang-Bomdila
Morning drive back to Bomdila. Post lunch visit Apple Orchids and Buddhist Gompa. Overnight Siphiyang Phong Hotel, Bomdila.
Day 12 : Bomdila-Guwahati
Early morning drive to Guwahati (342 km 9hrs drive). Overnight Belle View or Brahmaputra Ashok, Guwahati.

Skrenyi Festival
Duration : 10 Days

Day 01 : Kolkata-Dibrugarh

Day 02 : Dibrugarh-Naganimora
Morning drive to Naginimora via Simulguri (100 kms, 5hrs). Naganimora, formally known as Lakhan, is a subdivision in Mon district and is sited in Kongan village land. It has the only coalfield in Nagaland, founded by the East India Company in 1907. Overnight Circuit House or PWD Rest House, Naganimora.
Day 03 : Naganimora-Mon
Morning drive to Mon (80km 5hrs) the headquarter of the Konyaks tribe. Enroute visit to Anghs (Chief) house at Wakching. Overnight Tourist Lodge or Circuit House, Mon.
Day 04 : Mon-Tuensang
Morning drive to Tuensang (150kms 8hrs), the homeland of Changs, Yimchungers, Khiamungans, Sangtams, Semas and Phoms Nagas. Overnight Circuit House or P.W.D Rest House, Tuensang.
Day 05 : Tuensang-Mokokchung
After breakfast drive to Mokokchung (115kms 6hrs drive), This picturesque town is the cultural center of the Ao tribes of Nagaland. Overnight Circuit House or Tent.
Day 06 : Mokokchung-Wokha-Touphema
Early morning drive to Touphema (210km 7hrs) to attain SKRENYI festival, The Angami celebrate Sekrenyi in the month of February (25th to 27th). It normally falls on the 25th day of the Angami month of "Kezei". The ten-day festival is also called Phousanyi by the Angamis. Overnight Govt. Circuit House or Tent or Local tribal house.
Day 07 : Touphema Village
Full day participate at festival
Day 08 : Touphema-Kohima
Morning attain festival later in the evening drive to Kohima (60kms 2hrs). Overnight Hotel Japhu, Kohima.
Day 09 : Kohima-Dzulakie-Khonoma-Kohima
Full day excursion to Dzulakie (40 km) and Khonoma village (20 km) with packed lunch. Overnight Kohima.
Day 10 : Kohima-Dimapur-Kolkata
After breakfast transfer to Dimapur to connect flight to Kolkata. Tour ends.

Dree Valley Trek Duration : 11 Days

Trekking include visit to last Indian tribal village in the region. Itinerary is based on exploring and close look at Idu Mishmi tribal inhabitant, who lives in Dree valley.

Day 04 : Anini-Gipulin
Morning trek to Gipulin (15km 6hrs). Enroute visit Arpopo village. Overnight Tent or Idu (Mishmi) house, Gipulin.
Day 05 : Gipulin-Agrimbronlin
Morning trek and then cross rive Dree by hanging bridge to Agrimbronlin (10km 5hrs). Overnight Tent or Idu (Mishimi) house, Agrimbronlin.
Day 06 : Agrimbronlin-Acheson
After breakfast trek to Acheson (10km 6hrs), Acheson is the last Indian village in this region. Later trek back to Agrimbronlin. Overnight Tent
Day 07 : Acheson-Etabe
Morning trek to Etabe (20km, 7hrs). Enroute visit Alinneh another Idu (Mishmi) tribal village. Overnight Tent, or Idu (Mishmi) house, Etabe.
 
Day 09 : Italin-Roing
After breakfast drive back to Roing (170km 8rs). Overnight Roing.
Day 10 : Roing-Dibrugarh
Drive back to Dibrugarh. Evening free at local market. Overnight Hotel Natraj, Dibrugarh.

Nagaland Tour - 15 Days

Day 1:  Pickup at  Guwahati  drive to  Nagaland.  With possibility of staying one night at Game Reserve of National Park in Assam before heading on.

Day 2:   Either one day at National Park or drive on to Kohima in Nagaland.
Day 3:  Just outside of Kohima - khonoma, 1400 m.. This Angami tribal village is famous for its valor and the resistance to the British expedition in 1879. And also there carved wooden gates.  Overnight stay, in village guest house.
Day 4:  Explore Khonoma,  and peep into local lifestyles. Your local host will take you around the village, explain traditions and customs show you traditional attires, demonstrate cooking styles, and show how they practice agro- forestry. 20 types of paddy is grown at different altitudes along with Alder trees, which provide ecological balance.
 
Day 5:  Drive to Touphema Tourist Village, 60 kms. 1200 m.  Set up by the village council under the model village development program, it combines modern comforts with an ethnic setting. Visit old and new Angami tribal village, museum, and participate in a cultural program. Overnight in Naga Cottage.
Day 6:  Drive to Longkhum Village, 1600 m via Wokha 57 Kms, 1300m. Explore Lotha tribal village.  Longkhum was famous as a headhunting village of the Ao tribe.Explore village, visit museum, and interact with Ao tribals. Stay overnight at village guest house.
Day 7:  After breakfast drive to Mokokchung. Enroute visit Lotha tribal village. Overnight in Circuit House.
Day 8:  Villages around Mokokchung – stay village or circuit house.
Day 9:  Mokokchung/Tuensang : After breakfast drive to Tuensang 115 kms. Enroute visit Ungma and Lungsa, the Ao tribal villages. Overnight in Circuit House/Paying Guest House. 
Day 10: Day around Tuensang and villages.
Day 11:  Tuensang/Mon : After breakfast drive to Mon 150 kms. Enroute visit the Konyak tribal village. Overnight in Circuit House/Tented Accomodation.
Day 12:  Full 2 days in and around Mon. Visit Shankyu Village where one can see wooden monuments and stone memorials of Anghs (herediatary chief) and Longwa Village which is the biggest village in the district. Longwa village lies on International Border of India and Mynmar(Burma). 
Day 13: Stay in Longwa village on the Myanmar border. 
Day 14:  Drive out of Mon to /Dibrugarh in Assam - evening walk around Dibrugarh - Overnight in Hotel.
Day 15:: Transfer to airport for flight to Delhi/Calcutta.

10 Day Arunachal Pradesh

Day 1: Arrive Bhalukpong  and check into Assam Tourist Lodge.

Day 2: After breakfast drive to Bomdila (100 km) Entry formalities at Police Check Gate bordering Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. En-route visit the famous Tipi Orchidarium and Shertukpen tribal village at Rupa. O/N in Tourist Lodge.
Day 3: After breakfast drive to Dirang 42 km. Visit Dirang Dzong (former Tibetan Jail), Village Water Mills, Kachikpa Gompa, Li-uing Gompa, Kalchakra Monastary, YAK Research Centre, and local market. Overnight Hotel Pemaling.
Day 4: Drive to Tawang (145 km). En-route visit Paradise lake at Sela
Pass (13700 ft.). Weather permiting one can enjoy the beautiful snow
clad mountain views of Kangto 7090 mtr, Nyegi Kangsang 7050 mtr, Gorichen 6488 mtr, etc.   O/N in Hotel Nefa.
Day 5: Sight seeing of Tawang Monastary (400 yrs old with 500 resident monks and center of Mahayana Buddhism), Tawang Memorial, Birth Place of H H V1 Dalai Lama Urgeling Gompa, Emporium, etc.
09/04 Fri:  Trek to Ani Gompa (Nunnery), interact with the nuns, enjoy picnic lunch and return to Hotel. Evening free for shopping in the local market.
Day 6: Early breakfast and drive to Namshu Vilage (170 km. En-route visit Jang Water fall and Indo China War Memorial at Jaswantgarh. Overnight in village house.
Day 7: Day in around Namshu Village.
Day 8: After breakfast trek to Sangti village. Thereafter drive to Bomdila 50 km. Overnight in Tourist Lodge.
Day 9:  After breakfast  Bomdila sight seeing including Monasteries, Emporium, Museum and local market.  Drive to Eco Camp in Assam. Stay Camp.
Day 10: Early morning walk in Nameri National Park - and/or rafting trip down river.  Afternoon drive to Guwahati and tour ends.

Arunachal & Nagaland Tour - 17 or 22 Days

Day 1: Arrive Calcutta. Transfer to hotel

Day 2:  Full day sightseeing. including visit to Kali Temple, which is dedicated to the patron goddess of the city. The whole area is a busy place and it is a marvelous area to get a feel for the city, meet and talk to people; Sishu Bhavan, one of Mother Theresas many homes for the underprivileged; art museums and private galleries, the potters village of Kumarthuli (time permitting).  The Kumars, or potters, who live in the area make the life size deities that are worshipped throughout the year
Day 3:  Fly To Guwahati - Drive to Tezpur (181km/5hrs);the historic town of Assam. Hotel Luit.
Day 4:  Morning drive to Bomdila (165km/5hrs). Visit and interface with Khowa and Sherdukpan tribes near Seppa and Rupa. Hotel Siphiyang-phong.
Day 5: Drive to Tawang (181km/7hrs).  Magnificent scenic beauty throughout (10,200 ft). Cross the crest of the Sela Pass at 14000 ft above sea level - beautiful landscape with a placid lake called the Paradise Lake. Interface with the Monpa Tribes enroot. Hotel Buddha or similar.
Day 6:  Visit the famous Tawang Monastery at a height of 10,200 ft; near the border with Bhutan. Dating from the mid-17th century, this is the most important monastery in the northeast. The sixth Dalai lama was born here. It has an interesting collection of ancient thangkas and a large gilded statue of Sakyamuni in the prayer hall. Evening free to explore Tawang town. Hotel Buddha or similar.
Day 7:  Morning drive to Dirang(141 kms/6 hrs).
Enjoy the beauty of the drive with magnificent waterfalls and interact with locals during rest stops.

Day 8 : After breakfast drive to Addabarie Chang Bungalow near Balipara (180kms/6hrs), to break up the drive to Ziro. Evening Miching tribal villages. Overnight at the Bungalow.
Day 9:  Morning drive to Ziro(290kms/8hrs), home of the Apatani people who grow rice on terraces on the Apatani Plateau. Enroute enjoy the beauty of Kamala river. Hotel Blue Pine Lodge.
Day 10: Ziro (5754ft) Visit Hong Village the largest tribal village in Asia along with other Apatani and Nishi tribal villages.
Day 11:  Morning drive to Daporizo(176km/7hrs).
Interface with Tagins and Hill Miris. Overnight at Govt IB( Basic) at Dumporizo.
Day 12:  After breakfast drive to Along (167km/7hrs), a small quiet village. Enroute visit Adi tribe. Overnight at Govt IB/Tourist Lodge (Basic).
Day 13:  At Along visit the Bokar, Ramo and Gallong tribal villages. Overnight at a Guest House/Hotel (Basic).
Day 14:  After breakfast drive to Pasighat (160km/6hrs), a larger Adi town on the banks of the Brahmaputra River (Known locally as Siyom ). There are some local markets here selling handicrafts. Enjoy the breathtaking view of Pangin - the meeting point of Siyom and the Siang rivers with different colors of turbulent waves. Enroute visit the Pasi and Padam villages and the handicrafts center. Overnight at Govt IB/Tourist Lodge.
Day 15:  Morning drive to the river bank (35km/1hr)and take a boat cruise to Dibrugarh (5hrs). Overnight stay at Heritage Chang Bungalow.
Day 16:  After breakfast drive to Tai-phake village. Enjoy traditional lunch with villagers. Drive back to Dibrugarh through a rain forest. Overnight at the Chang-bungalow.
Day 17: You may end your tour here and fly to Calcutta for your return flight home Fly to Calcutta IC702 dep 1205 arr 1335. Transfer to hotel near airport. Late night transfer to international airport.
OR CONTINUE WITH US TO NAGALAND
Day 17: After an early breakfast at 6.30 am drive to Mokokchung (210 kms/7 hrs). On the way visit Aliba village & interface with Ao tribes. Over night stay at Circuit House.
Day 18: Visit Chuchuyimlang Village (30km/1hr).
Interface with the villagers, walk around the village. Drive to Mopungchukit Village (20km), visit the Time-Pillar, Museum, Ediben & Jina (Ao Juliet Romeo) Tower and the monuments. Over night stay at Circuit House.
Day 19: After an early breakfast proceed to Tuophema Village (117 km/5 hr). Enroute Longkhum Village lies in the top of the hill. There is a belief that a single visit to Longkhum is not enoughÉ for you have to return to the village again to collect your soul, which had stayed behind on your first visit. Interface with the villagers. Overnight stay at Naga ethnic-cottage.
Day 20:  Morning drive to Kohima (43km/11/2 hrs), the capital of Nagaland. Places to visit include: Kohima War Cemetery, the State Museum which has a rare collection of historical artifacts of different tribes of Naga, the Catholic Cathedral, which has the largest crucifix carved of wood in India. On the hill above Kohima is Bara Basti, the original Naga settlement. You can still find a few traditional houses here with crossed horns on the gables but need to get into the hill villages to see traditional Naga culture. Choose what interests you most and pace yourself accordingly so you can fit in all that is important to you. Afternoon drive to Khonoma the historic village (20km/40mins) west of Kohima. It is famous for its arts and crafts. Back to Kohima. Hotel Japfu Ashok.
Day 21:  Morning drive to Dibrugarh (320 kms/8hrs). Chang Bungalow.
Day 22: Departure Day to Kolkata or Delhi
