David Scott trail is a portion of a Horse trail that was built during the British Time. It gives a nice day outing. Recommended for, persons who are reasonably fit. Total: about 14 km from Mawphlang to Lad Mawphlang (which is on the Shillong Cherrapunjee Road).
One can do the trail either way: by starting in Mawphlang and ending at Lad Mawphlang or starting at lad Mawphlang and ending at Mawphlang. You will need a vehicle to drop you and pick you up. The trail from Mawphlang starts with about a 2 km slope zigzag down to river.. About 1.5 km on fairly level ground, with river crossing, then it is about a 2 km or more rising up, Then about 3 km or more on level or descending ground with the final portion up to Lad Mawphlang. The opposite is true for persons starting at Lad Mawphlang. Along the way at about 9 or 10 km you will cross a small bridge going over a stream, engineered to hold together only by how the rocks are laid without cement or other adhesive.
Note: Extended Treks can be arranged with tents and or village stays: please contact to discuss details and possibilities.
